It is that time again! Songkran, time to get soaked! Of course, if you are currently experiencing the Albertan weather like I am today, it is probably the last thing you would like to do. Snow and rain. What else is new?
Starting today, April 12 until Sunday April 15, Thais all over will be celebrating it up with mass water-bucket fights and festivities and parades and all things to ring in the New Year. For the first time in about three years I will get to attend the local Songkran festival right here at home! For the last few years my training has conflicted with the festival, and I am often celebrating Thai New Year’s alone in a condo in Florida-but not this year! This Saturday I am going to get to reunite with some very special friends that I have become increasingly distant from, much to my dismay. So this will be very exciting! Of course I will be bringing my camera so expect to see some photos of the festivities!
If you made New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of January and somehow they became lost in your everyday life, lucky you! You have got another shot at it. Now…don’t blow it 🙂 So go out and douse someone with water, whether it be in Thailand, North America, Europe, you name it! Have an amazing day! Like the quote says, “We don’t quit playing because we grow old, we grow old because we quit playing!”
Sawatdee Bpee Mai!
